The latest Ubisoft trailer for Far Cry 3 is all about setting up the scene, where we'll go from a carefree skydiving group of chums (presumably drunk a lot) to fighting for our lives against insanity. We're asked how far we'll go to rescue our ransomed friends. Our only hope is to "embrace the dark secrets" of the island paradise, and "its twisted characters." It's out late this month.

No, sorry, there'll be no dedicated server support for Far Cry 3's online mayhem. Ubisoft community manager 'MSV-Vextor' let us know via their official discussion forums. I'm sure you feel violated. At the very least you're now depressed. Far Cry 2 also missed out on dedicated server supports, with third-parties eventually running unofficial multiplayer matches.

Ubisoft has revealed the first image of the character we'll be playing as when we rampage around the Himalayas in Far Cry 4. His name is Ajay Ghale, a Kyrat (fictional province where the game takes place) native who returns to the mountains to scatter his mother's ashes and somehow ends up riding a war elephant through a military outpost while firing a machine gun. These things can happen.

Ever since the original Far Cry introduced us to the series' particular brand of tropical shooting back in 2004, fans have been wondering just how much the games would be improved by the introduction of dinosaurs. Seventy-five per cent? Three hundred per cent? It appears that current developer Ubisoft isn't entirely opposed to the concept either. In a recent consumer survey sent out by the company, it asked several players what they would like to see in a future Far Cry game.
